The City of Essex Junction is committed to engaging its residents in developing the strategic action plan. As such, the City is inviting all residents to participate in a series of Focus Groups on January 29 and 30, 2024, which will be held at the Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Champlain Valley Exposition.
The six facilitated focus groups aim to build a deeper understanding of key themes that have emerged from the community engagement processes and their implications for the future of the City of Essex Junction, looking out to 2035. Participants in the focus groups will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and perspectives toward developing the key action items for each pillar that can help guide future planning for Essex Junction.
The Community Vision and Strategic Action Plan Steering Committee has developed six strategic pillars from community input and data gathered through the community survey and Think Tank Workshops. These strategic pillars represent the major themes or topic areas that reflect the preferred future for Essex Junction. Below are the six pillars and the times of the Focus Groups:
- Housing and Density: January 29, 2024, 9:00 am – 10:30 am
- Public Services and Facilities: January 29, 2024, 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
- Economic Development: January 29, 2024, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
- Transportation and Connectivity: January 29, 2024, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
- Environment: January 30, 2024, 9:00 am – 10:30 am
- Community Engagement: January 30, 2024, 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
The focus groups will last around 90 minutes, and residents are encouraged to attend one or more of the sessions to share their perspectives and ideas.
