The Village of Essex Junction is proud to announce that our Wastewater Treatment Facility, in conjunction with the University of Vermont and the Chittenden County Solid Waste District, was recently awarded a $45,000 grant from the state of Vermont Phosphorus Innovation Challenge program. These funds will help to pilot an innovative approach to phosphorus removal in wastewater and potentially other nutrient-rich waste streams using electric fields. This project has the potential to enhance the ability for wastewater facilities, farms or other processes throughout the country to remove phosphorus from the watershed.
Congratulations to our wastewater staff on all of your hard work!
