The City of Essex Junction is gearing up for its Annual Meeting on April 8, 2025, and will have three elected positions on the ballot. This year, residents will have the opportunity to vote for:
- City Council – One 3-year term,
- Champlain Water District Commissioner – One 3-year term, and
- Library Trustee – One 5-year term.
Residents interested in running for office must submit a petition with a minimum of 30 qualified voter signatures, along with a Consent of Candidate form, to ensure their name appears on the ballot. All completed petitions and consent forms must be delivered to the City Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. on March 3, 2025(the sixth Monday preceding the date of election 17 VSA §2681(a)(1)(A)).
Petition and Candidate Consent forms are available at the City Clerk’s office located at 2 Lincoln Street, temporarily situated in the Senior Center (with parking available on the right side of the fire station driveway). Additionally, these forms can be downloaded from the Secretary of State's website https://sos.vermont.gov/elections/election-info-resources/candidates/local-office-candidates/ .
