The City of Essex Junction is excited to announce the start of the renovation project of the City Offices at 2 Lincoln Street. This fall, the City will commence a comprehensive renovation project focusing on interior modifications of the City Offices.

The renovation project aims to enhance the functionality and accessibility of the City Offices by establishing a formal entryway, creating a layout that accommodates the City Office team, and installing an elevator to serve the basement, first, and second floors. Furthermore, the project will make the building fully accessible and improve the HVAC system to provide a more comfortable environment for both employees and visitors.

During the construction period, the City Offices will be temporarily relocated to the Senior Center building (the white building attached to the City Offices). To facilitate this move, the City Offices will be closed on July 8 and 9 and will reopen in the Senior Center building on July 10, 2024. Residents will continue to have uninterrupted access to all City services during construction.

City meetings will undergo some changes during the renovation period. Starting in October, the City Council meetings will be held at the Essex Police Department Conference Room, while all other meetings will take place in the Brownell Library Kolvoord Room. We encourage residents to visit the City’s website to stay updated on meeting dates and locations as they may change. Additionally, all City meetings will continue to have a hybrid meeting option.

In line with the renovation plans, the parking lot between the City Offices and the Fire Department will be closed starting November 1, 2024. Limited-time parking spaces will be available for residents visiting the City Offices from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Fire Department parking lot along the side of the Senior Center building.

“The City of Essex Junction is committed to making this renovation project as smooth and convenient as possible for all residents and visitors,” said City Manager Regina Mahony. “We look forward to the renovated City Offices meeting the needs of our community for years to come.”

Throughout the renovation project, the City will provide regular updates on the progress. For any questions or concerns regarding the 2 Lincoln Street Renovation Project, please contact Regina Mahony, City Manager, at rmahony@ essexjunction.org or 802-878-6944.
