Updates

Champlain Water District’s (CWD) ongoing facility construction requires an 8 – 10 hour full Plant Shutdown of its Water Treatment Facility on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. This shutdown will start at 8:00 AM and is scheduled to be completed by 6:00 PM on this day. Therefore, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, CWD is requesting all customers to curtail all nonessential water use from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This includes any outdoor water usage and nonessential indoor uses such as laundry and dishwasher during this 10-hour time period. This conservation effort will allow the CWD to maintain adequate storage volumes and fire protection in its water storage tanks strategically located throughout Chittenden County. All fire departments have been reminded to call CWD in the event of fires or other water-related emergencies, and municipal water systems have been asked not to perform any hydrant flushing or fire flow testing.

The affected water systems are: Shelburne, South Burlington, Milton, Williston, Essex Junction, Essex Town, Colchester FD#1, Colchester FD#3, Colchester Town, Village of Jericho, Winooski, and the Malletts Bay Water Company. Please check our website, www.champlainwater.org, for periodic updates on the status of this tie-in, and we will post when our facility is back to normal operations.
